Take an excursion into a shadowy world of parlor seances and film noir plot twists. Gildana Desdemona, a down on her luck (or down on her talent?), mystic medium is desperate to resuscitate her career as a successful prophetess. With occasional help from her deceased scene partner, Gildana communes with the spirit realm, meets old flames, encounters new ones, foretells the future, and dwells in the past. Join internationally touring San Francisco clown Molly M. Shannon for this one woman clown play, featuring old time dialogue with spiritualist shenanigans thrown in.

"Gildana instantly drew me in. I was ready to follow her wherever she went... there aren’t many dames with that combination of charm and wit. Utterly captivating hour." - SF Fringe Audience Member

About Molly M. Shannon:
Molly M. Shannon is a clown, physical comedian, and dancer from San Francisco. She was a founding member of San Francisco’s clown quartet Circus Finelli, as well as its spin off, Duo Finelli. As a Finelli, Molly has performed throughout the US, presented in Europe, and toured Mexico. She is a graduate of the SF Clown Conservatory and Flying Actors Studio. She has worked in hospitals as a clown with the Medical Clown Project, as well as performed on multiple international tours with Clowns Without Borders. In addition to clowning, Molly has been a principal dancer for many years with the Bay Area’s premiere Brazilian dance group, Aquarela Samba, where she specializes in the Rio de Janeiro style of samba. Her solo show “Oh Johnny” was a recent winner of the Best of Fringe award in the SF Fringe Festival.

Charming Disaster is a goth-folk musical duo based in Brooklyn, NY, formed in 2012 by Ellia Bisker and Jeff Morris. Inspired by the macabre humor of Edward Gorey, Tim Burton, and Charles Addams, the murder ballads of the Americana tradition, and the dramatic flair of the cabaret, they write playfully dark songs about death, crime, myth, magic, science, and the occult. In their interactive shows, songs are selected by chance by audience members who draw cards from the Charming Disaster Oracle Deck—a Tarot-style divination that straddles the line between concert and theatre.

"Charming Disaster has an affinity for monsters, mortality, paranormal activity and unearthly shenanigans…sparked by flashes of wry humor." –Rock & Roll Globe

Dr. Lisa Kraus is an archaeologist with a tiny little cabinet of curious (but true) archaeological stories. She has an entirely respectable archaeological day job with the State of Maryland, where she occasionally uncovers old stories about spectral animals, witch bottles, magic coins, ghosts who haunt creeks and crossroads, cats buried under hearthstones, and shoes found hidden in the walls of old houses.

Høly River, touring from Richmond, is a musical duo known for their ethereal pop soundscapes, transcendent melodies, and environmental activism. Rooted in themes of nature, spirituality, and human connection, their music weaves together elements of indie folk, world, and ambient genres. The duo's performances create an immersive experience that transcends the boundaries of a traditional concert, offering audiences moments of reflection, introspection and inspiration. In addition to their music, Laney and Jameson are passionate advocates for environmental stewardship and community building. They are the founders of Fonticello Food Forest, a thriving urban food forest in Richmond, VA dedicated to nature connection, education and community access to fresh and rescued food.

Valeska Maria Populoh works as an artist, educator and cultural organizer in her adopted hometown of Baltimore, Maryland.  Embracing a wide array of tactics, from puppetry to participatory performance, Valeska's work is motivated by an interest in healing and repair, in our relationships to each other and to the natural world. She is an affiliated artist with Black Cherry Puppet Theater, a faculty member at the Maryland Institute College of Art, and committed to cultural work that strengthens community across difference to builds capacity for our collective justice work.

THE BOOK OF STARS is the folktale of the Light Queen, written and performed by musician and folk artist Georgia Beatty. The show combines original music with the old projector technology known as a “magic lantern” to tell the story of the cosmic queen who is reborn every 3,000 years to learn the songs of Light, and use them to heal Earth from oppressive powers.

Exploring resonance as both a musical and ancestral concept, visuals, song and story guide the audience through a grounding ritual to discover the present body as a living archive; capable of healing a broken world.
-------------------------------
Georgia Beatty is a musician and folk artist focused on cycle, lineage and healing through cultural transmission. Their work has two taproots growing at equally feverish rates in the paradoxically woven worlds of songwriting and traditional music. They play the fiddle, cello, and they sing. Georgia’s training as a fiddler is in Norwegian traditional music.

Alicia Puglionesi and Carrie Fucile: Circles In Absolute Night--The story of descending into a cave with spoken word, live sound, and projected video. Why do we put faith in false promises and what is it like to be a rock? We will shed light on these questions.

Erik Ruin:  All That Is Solid--An audio-visual environment that layers/juxtaposes quietly transcendentalist video observations of everyday life alongside hand-drawn animations and cut paper projections. A series of reckonings with the state of the state, the self, society, the environment, the interpenetration and complicity of them/us all.  *Featuring live improvised musical accompaniment by Orlando Johnson and

Elizabeth grew up in a small town, Alabama working in the the family Motel, singing in a Methodist Youth Choir, touring nursing homes, prisons, and childrens' hospitals. This was a formative idea of how to leave home, how to move people to tears, how to tell a story. She thought of becoming an evangelist, but instead became a painter graduating from Auburn University in Alabama. She then came to Baltimore to study under Grace Hartigan at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Here, Elizabeth joined with other artists and their collaborative efforts led to peformance art, hillbillie operas, story cycle concerts, parades and a lifetime of future collaborations.

The expectation-defying musical menagerie of Cookie Tongue brings to the stage a multi sensory performance using twisted fairytale like songs, hand made puppets, animation, art and interactive avant-garde theatre to pull audiences into a mesmerizing one-of-a-kind experience, with special guest Dreambaby.

a recent quote from a new fan:

“To say seeing Cookie Tongue is an experience is an understatement!! Easily one of the most sensory overloading and entertaining performances I've seen in recent memory. Imagine the vocals of Tiny Tim, with the intense visuals of a Nine Inch Nails video while tripping on LSD in the woods--that's about as good an analogy as i can come up with. Seriously though if you get the opportunity it's definitely worth checking out no doubt!”

Thursday January 16th, 2025 Curtis Eller's American Circus

Picture
Curtis Eller's American Circus
East Coast Album Release Tour
at Black Cherry Puppet Theater

Thursday January 16th, 2025
7pm Show (doors open at 6:30pm)
Tickets available now! Click HERE!

The Band:
Curtis Eller is a banjo player, songwriter and rock & roll singer. The lifelong show business veteran began performing at the age of seven as a juggler and acrobat, but has since turned to the banjo because that's where the money is. His band, Curtis Eller’s American Circus, has developed a devoted international following based on spellbinding stage performances that combine a dreamlike vision of American history with silent film style, physical comedy, and explosive rock & roll energy. The iconoclastic troubadour has spent twenty-five years relentlessly touring the clubs, theatres and festivals of North America, Europe, and Australia. This coming January, Eller will embark on a limited run of East Coast club dates, backed by a heavy-hitting, four-piece lineup of The American Circus featuring musicians from both sides of the Atlantic.

The New Album:
The tour celebrates the release of their new album, "Another Nice Mess." The recording captures the band in their ragged, retro splendor, as they guide listeners through a sepia-tinged world of tightrope walkers, heavyweight brawlers, Hollywood scream queens, firing squads, fallen soldiers and conscientious objectors. At the heart of the forthcoming set is ‘Another Nice Mess': A sweet, sentimental waltz about the enduring friendship between Laurel & Hardy. You are invited to run away with the circus when this little big top comes to town!

Band Members:
Curtis Eller: banjo & lead vocals
Stacy Wolfson: harmony vocals
Hugh Crumley: electric bass
Andy Lyth: drums & harmony
